Is IRM-1 a megohmmeter or a multimeter?

It is a 2-in-1 instrument: a digital megohmmeter with a built-in multimeter. The megohmmeter section measures insulation resistance; the multimeter section reads AC/DC voltage, resistance, capacitance, frequency, diode and continuity — two tools in one.

How large an insulation range can it measure?

By test voltage: 100V 0.001MΩ–2GΩ, 250V 0.001MΩ–5GΩ, 500V 0.001MΩ–10GΩ, 1000V 0.001MΩ–20GΩ. Accuracy is ±(5%+5) at 100–500V and ±(10%+5) at 1000V.

How do I choose the test voltage?

Select the range by the rated voltage of the equipment under test — 100V / 250V / 500V / 1000V. Press the voltage button to select the range, then press TEST to start the high-voltage output.

Can it measure absorption ratio and polarization index?

Yes. In megohmmeter mode press DAR for the absorption ratio and PI for the polarization index; the sub-display shows the ratio and elapsed time, helping judge insulation aging.

Is the battery standard? Can it be charged?

Yes, the built-in Li-ion is standard and recharges over USB-C; a Type-C charging cable is included. When the low-battery symbol appears, recharge or replace promptly; power off and remove the test leads before replacing.

What functions does the multimeter have?

DC voltage, AC voltage (True RMS), resistance, capacitance, frequency, diode and continuity. The continuity range buzzes when resistance is below 50 Ω.
