The IT-1000 and IT-2500B are one digital insulation tester platform in two voltage classes. IT-1000 gives you 100, 250, 500 and 1000 V DC with autoranging up to 10.00 GΩ — the everyday tool for switchgear, motors, cables and telecom plant. IT-2500B lifts the ceiling to 2500 V DC and 20.00 GΩ for medium- and high-voltage apparatus. Both add a separate 20 – 600 V AC input so you can prove a circuit is dead before you apply the test voltage.

Which model should I choose?

IT-1000 covers the four test voltages used for low-voltage maintenance and acceptance testing — 100, 250, 500 and 1000 V DC, up to 10.00 GΩ. Choose IT-2500B when the equipment under test is rated above 1 kV, such as medium-voltage cables, switchgear or transformers; it reaches 2500 V DC and 20.00 GΩ.

How do I pick the test voltage?

As a rule of thumb: 100 V or 250 V for low-voltage control and telecom cables, 500 V for motor windings and domestic wiring, 1000 V for distribution equipment, and 1500 / 2500 V for medium-voltage apparatus. Never exceed the rated insulation voltage of the circuit.

Why is there a separate AC voltage input?

It lets you verify that the circuit is de-energised before applying a test voltage. The meter reads 20 – 600 V AC, 40 – 400 Hz, with the same input sockets used for the insulation test.

What accuracy should I expect at the top of a range?

Accuracy is ±(3 % + 5 digits) below the top of each range and ±(5 % + 5 digits) above it. Test current stays above 1 mA so readings remain stable on long cable runs.

Are test leads and batteries included?

Yes. The standard package includes a high-voltage test probe, a mini crocodile-clip lead, a full test lead and clip set, six AA batteries, the manual and a nylon pouch.

What safety ratings does it carry?

CAT III 600 V, pollution degree 2, Class II double insulation, designed to IEC 61010-1 and IEC 61557-1/-2, with CE marking.
