How do I choose between the insulation and earth models?

Insulation testers (IT) apply a DC voltage and measure leakage resistance — for motors, cables, switchgear, transformers. Earth testers (ET) inject a current into the ground and measure the resistance of the electrode system — for substations, lightning protection, telecom towers and PV arrays. If you commission electrical installations you usually need both.

IT-1000 or IT-2500B?

IT-1000 covers the voltages used in low-voltage maintenance — 100 to 1000 V DC to 10 GΩ. Choose IT-2500B when equipment is rated above 1 kV: it reaches 2500 V DC and 20 GΩ.

ET-23, ET-234A or ET-234B?

ET-23 handles 2- and 3-wire earth resistance for routine checks. ET-234A adds 4-wire measurement plus a ≥200 mA low-ohms continuity mode. ET-234B adds Wenner soil resistivity for substation and lightning-protection design.

Can the insulation testers verify a circuit is dead first?

Yes. Both IT models have a separate AC voltage input covering 20 – 600 V, 40 – 400 Hz, on the same sockets used for testing.

Do the earth testers measure PV string voltage?

Yes. All three ET models accept 0 – 1500 V DC and 0 – 750 V AC, so the array can be proved dead before any earth test.

What is included?

Insulation models: high-voltage probe, mini crocodile-clip lead, test lead and clip set, 6 × AA, manual, nylon pouch. Earth models: 4 earth spikes, 4 test leads (red 15 m, yellow 10 m, green 5 m, black 5 m), 6 × AA, manual, pouch.
