Phone thermal 256
The MT-256A is a pocket thermal imager that plugs straight into an Android or iOS phone through USB Type-C and turns it into a high-detail infrared camera. A 256×192 vanadium-oxide (VOx) microbolometer with TISR upscaling to 512×384 and ≤40 mK thermal sensitivity resolves fine temperature differences on distant and small targets, while the IR heat map app adds live temperature measurement, night vision, photo and video capture. Powered directly by the phone at ≤0.38 W, the 52×32×14 mm, 28 g module needs no charging and covers a -20~550 °C range across three temperature bands, with ±2 °C or ±2 % accuracy.
- 256×192 VOx
- TISR 512×384
- ≤40 mK NETD
- USB-C plug and play

Why it stands out
VOx detector, ≤40 mKA vanadium-oxide microbolometer resolves differences down to ≤40 mK, so early insulation ageing shows up before failure.
256×192 upscaled to 512×384TISR super-resolution plus 12 μm pixels and 3.43 mrad IFOV sharpen distant targets.
Plugs into your phoneA USB Type-C module turns an Android or iOS phone into a real-time infrared camera.
Built for inspection roundsElectrical, mechanical and building checks without carrying a separate imager.

FAQ
What is the difference between MT256 and MT96?
The main difference is IR resolution and fine detail. MT256 has a 256×192 detector with TISR 512×384, 50°×37.2° field of view, 3.43 mrad IFOV and ≤40 mK NETD; MT-96 is a 96×96 detector with 56.8°×56.8° field of view, 8.89 mrad IFOV and ≤60 mK NETD. Temperature range, accuracy and phone-powered design are shared. Choose MT256 when you need higher resolution for distant or small targets; choose MT-96 for budget-first home and electronics work.
Does it need charging? How is it powered?
No. The MT-256 plugs into the phone's Type-C port and is powered directly by the phone at ≤0.38 W, so it barely drains the battery. Keep the phone above 20% charge and avoid high-temperature, humid or strong-magnetic-field environments.
What if it will not connect to my phone?
Check in this order: ① on Android, enable OTG under Settings > More connections; ② insert the device straight into the port — do not tilt or wobble; ③ tap Confirm to authorize access on first recognition; ④ if the app still shows not connected, clean the port or re-plug the device.
How do I download the app?
The app is called IR heat map. Scan the QR code in the manual, or search for "IR heat map" in Google Play / iOS / Android app stores. Grant the app's access permission on first launch.
How do I set the emissivity?
Emissivity is set manually in the app, with a built-in common-emissivity reference table (e.g. skin 0.98, red brick 0.95, white paper 0.93). Match the emissivity to the target material for the most accurate reading.
