Earth + soil resistivity
The ET-234B is a portable digital earth resistance and soil resistivity tester for substations, lightning protection systems, telecom towers and industrial grounding networks. It measures earth resistance by 2-wire, 3-wire and 4-wire methods, soil resistivity by the four-electrode Wenner method, and also performs low-resistance continuity, earth voltage, PV voltage up to 1500V DC and AC voltage up to 750V. Auto-ranging, data hold and a backlit LCD keep field work straightforward.

FAQ
What is the difference between ET-234B and ET-234A?
ET-234B includes all ET-234A functions and adds soil resistivity (ρ) measurement using the four-electrode Wenner method. It is the right choice when grounding system design or geological survey data is required.
Why measure soil resistivity?
Soil resistivity determines how easily fault current dissipates into the ground. Knowing ρ lets engineers choose electrode depth, spacing and layout before installing a grounding system, rather than adjusting it afterwards.
What is the range of soil resistivity?
Using the 4, 40, 400 and 4000 Ω ranges with different electrode spacings, the ET-234B covers 0.188 Ω·m to 753.6 kΩ·m. The displayed value follows ρ = 2πaRg, where a is the electrode spacing and Rg is the measured ground resistance.
Does soil resistivity need extra accessories?
No. The standard four earth spikes and four test leads are wired in a Wenner array. No dedicated probes need to be purchased separately.
How does Rk lead compensation work?
Measure the residual resistance of your test leads and store it as Rk. During earth resistance measurement the meter subtracts this value, which improves accuracy on the lowest ohm ranges where lead resistance matters most.
What batteries does it use?
The ET-234B runs on 6 × 1.5V AA alkaline batteries, which are included in the standard package. Auto power-off after 30 minutes helps extend battery life in the field.
